“Popular among 18th and 19th-century aristocracy, dog portraiture lives on thanks to … Alexis England."  — MarthaStewart.com

The process of a commission begins with a visit to meet the subject(s) at which time I take photographs and look through any images the family or owner may already have. This gives me the chance to get to know the personality a bit. Should meeting in person not be possible, it is perfectly acceptable to work solely from photos providing the images are clear in detail and  can translate nicely to canvas; some of my favorite paintings have been completed this way. Paintings are in oils on canvas or wood panel.
